26 Nov CBD Infused Blueberry Mojito Kombucha Mocktail
Check out this amazing CBD Infused Blueberry Mojito Kombucha Mocktail recipe (it’s so good!) from my friend Josh Trent , founder of Wellness Force (check out his awesome podcast HERE). It is the best replacement for sugary ones when you sit down with the relatives during the holidays!
It’ll also help you deal with your uncle’s bad breath and your cousin chewing with her mouth open at the dinner table…. (hahaha)
Dating back around 2,000 years ago, known as the “Immortal Wellness Elixir” by the Chinese, kombucha is on most wellness advocators favorite beverage list for not only its bubbly citrus and hoppy taste, but mainly for its tremendous health benefits ranging from your heart, your brain, and (especially) your gut!
If you’re familiar with our WF Instagram, you know I’m all about gut health. From my gut nourishing meals, searching for the newest digestive enzymes, to raving about fermentation, and religiously taking my anti-inflammatory CBD, you’ve most likely spotted a bottle of kombucha somewhere in the mix!
Fruity + Fizzy + Fresh Herbs + Probiotics – The Hangover = CURED
CBD Infused Blueberry Mojito Kombucha: a delicious and healthy alternative “mocktail” that is served without the hangover and balances your gut health!
Gut health has become an area of great importance within my own wellness routine and within the health and wellness industry. The terms “it all starts in the gut” and “your gut is your second brain” couldn’t be more spot on.
The gut is the center and “home” to so many other areas in your body. When disease, stress, pollutants, or poor nutrition negatively affects your gut, it can have a profound impact on all the other systems in your body. When your gut is out of whack, it can have a ripple effect throughout every system, affecting everything from your immune response to your emotional health. That is why I’ve paired kombucha and CBD in this weeks recipe as a gut healing duo to correct your digestive system imbalances!
CBD and Gut-Health Connection:
Thanks to cannabinoid receptors in the GI tract, your gut is able to maintain homeostasis with the help of CBD.
When you’re dealing with problems affecting the digestive system, it’s likely that your biggest problem is inflammation. When any part of this system becomes inflamed, it can lead to a range of symptoms, from malnutrition due to lack of proper nutrient absorption to severe diarrhea that has a cascading effect of fatigue and dehydration… that is just a small glimpse into the symptoms that come with an imbalanced gut.
While research involving CBD for treating digestive problems is in its infancy, studies have suggested that it may be one of the most powerful natural remedies.
In one particular study within the journal Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research declares that cannabis has been used for ages to treat a variety of gastrointestinal disorder. The endocannabinoid system is pointed out in the article as a participant of the gastrointestinal function, gut motility, gut-brain-mediated fat intake, and hunger signaling, inflammation, and dynamic interactions with gut microbiota. That’s because CBD interacts with cannabinoid receptors that are found in the intestines, stomach, and brain including serotonin receptors, CB-1, and CB-2 receptors. CB1 specifically has been shown to help regulate stomach acids, protect the stomach, and ease nausea and vomiting.
The endocannabinoid system plays a role in a wide range of functions, including appetite, digestion, immune regulation, mood, sleep, reproduction, and pain. Specifically, in this study, Ethan Russo has theorized that people with IBS and other similar gut disorders might lack endocannabinoids. After testing in a clinical study, it was shown that cannabinoid treatment can lower sensitivity and inflammation in patients with gastrointestinal disorders.
Another study revealed potential applications against gastrointestinal diseases on how that cannabis reduced spontaneous intestinal movements and alleviated both colonic spasms and abdominal pain. That study lit the way with evidence for cannabinoid treatments in managing bowel diseases thanks to its reduce nerve pain as well as its anti-inflammatory properties.
There are many different ways that CBD can promote a healthy gut. By encouraging the growth of good bacteria, balancing the endocannabinoid system, promoting overall digestive health, and strengthening gut barrier function, CBD shows tremendous promise in improving the functioning of the gut.
