In yoga class, just focus on squeezing your thighs in Triangle pose, for example.
If you’re driving, turn off the radio and focus on the sound of your car on the road for a few minutes.
By focusing on one thing in the present, you are strengthening the brain’s alpha state. You will notice that you are more able to remain in stillness and to go deeper into meditation. By resisting distraction, you can train yourself to replace worry, anxiety, depression and boredom with equanimity.
