17 Jun Elevate Your Mental State Monday: Practice Ekagrata
Ekagrata is the Sanskrit word for “having a single point of focus”. Sometimes everything just gets a little crazy in your mind: too much work, too many thoughts, not enough balance of the right things that make you feel like you.
Practicing yoga shifts you away from the tension and stress that you regularly feel – shifting your mind from distraction, freeing you to BE IN THE NOW. When you’re off the mat, though, it’s a little more difficult. Today, practice focusing only on what you are doing in the present moment and take note of your surroundings in the “now”. It doesn’t matter whether you are washing dishes, answering emails or speaking with a client or a friend. Stay still and notice what’s around you and what’s within you — just slow down and simply observe and be present. By being fully present you can liberate yourself from the daily stressors that plague your happiness.
