21 Aug WHAT IS THE CORRECT PELVIC TILT IN CHAIR POSE?: Trick of the day Tuedsay
Utkatasana, A.K.A. chair pose. Some teachers tell you to tuck the tailbone under, some say to allow the natural S curve in the lumbar (low) spine. Which is correct? Answer: They both are! So how do you DO that?
Feet can be together or hip width apart. Bend deeply into the knees and stick your bottom out like a skier. Then stand up and explore the opposite pelvic tilt by drawing your tailbone under.
Again, bend your knees and bring the tops of your hip bones forward, tail out. Then, keep the knees bent, and without rounding the lower back, draw your belly in as you lengthen your entire spine and open your chest, bringing your shoulders back. Voila! Perfect pelvis in chair pose!
